I am unable to update my system.

I have some dependency I am unable to fix.

I tried:
<code>
sudo update-initramfs -k all -u
</code>

which spat out:
<code>
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.16.0-38-generic

gzip: stdout: No space left on device
E: mkinitramfs failure cpio 141 gzip 1
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-3.16.0-38-generic with 1.
</code>

With some guidance I took a look at http://askubuntu.com/questions/401581/bash-one-liner-to-delete-only-old-kernels

and entered in the dry run option for simulating removing my old kernels to have enough space.
I got:
<code>
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
 linux-image-extra-3.16.0-39-generic : Depends: linux-image-3.16.0-39-generic but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
</code>

and so when I:
<code>
sudo apt-get -f install
</code>

then I get:
<code>

Correcting dependencies... Done
