Feb 17 20:00:25 *	Mackan90096 (~Mackan900@unaffiliated/mackan90096) has joined #ubuntu
Feb 17 20:00:30 <Mackan90096>	Hi.
Feb 17 20:00:49 <Mackan90096>	Where do I find recovery media?
Feb 17 20:03:04 <vifino>	Mackan90096: What problem do you have?
Feb 17 20:03:26 <Mackan90096>	It doesn't find any boot media.
Feb 17 20:04:03 <Mackan90096>	ubuntu.
Feb 17 20:04:05 <simosx>	Mackan90096, you try to boot off a CDROM or USB?
Feb 17 20:04:14 <Mackan90096>	HDD
Feb 17 20:04:37 <simosx>	Mackan90096, is that the first booting after installation of Ubuntu?
Feb 17 20:04:56 <Mackan90096>	It is not.
Feb 17 20:05:38 <simosx>	Mackan90096, so, while Ubuntu was booting properly, now it does not boot when you start your computer? What message do you get on the screen?
Feb 17 20:06:11 <TJ->	Mackan90096: If no boot media is found, that is either a hardware failure, or firmware/BIOS change that is not trying the HDD as a boot device. What specific message/action do you see?
Feb 17 20:06:12 <Mackan90096>	It booted properly, I was compiling some stuff
Feb 17 20:07:12 <Mackan90096>	The computer became unresponsive, I used power button to reboot as ctrl+alt+delete didn't work.
Feb 17 20:08:30 <TJ->	Mackan90096: Have you started the problem PC from a Live ISO (on USB or DVD) - that will give you tools to identify the problem ?
Feb 17 20:08:30 <vifino>	Mackan90096: Your disk and partition is most likely corrupted.
Feb 17 20:08:32 <Mackan90096>	Now it says "No Bootable Device" under a hdd with a search icon over it
Feb 17 20:09:01 <Mackan90096>	I have not TJ-, How Do I Set Up That?
Feb 17 20:09:55 <TJ->	Mackan90096: If you have access to another PC, and a USB flash device or DVD writer, you can download the Ubuntu Desktop Live ISO, write it to the media, and try booting the problem PC from it
Feb 17 20:10:07 <Mackan90096>	ah
Feb 17 20:10:19 <Mackan90096>	I'll try that TJ-
Feb 17 20:13:02 <vifino>	Mackan90096: That error does not come from ubuntu. That's your bios telling you that there is no media that you can boot from. When you shut your computer down forcefully while it writes, the partition where ubuntu is installed may or may not can become corrupted.
Feb 17 20:13:37 <Mackan90096>	vifino, Oh. okay
Feb 17 20:15:55 <vifino>	Mackan90096: And the reason it became unresponsive is the reason you were compiling. It probably maxed out the CPU, ram and/or other resources, like your hard drive.
Feb 17 20:16:18 <Mackan90096>	vifino, Probably the cpu
Feb 17 20:16:33 <vifino>	Mackan90096: Most likely a combination of these.
Feb 17 20:17:00 <vifino>	Mackan90096: For example compiling a new kernel is CPU, RAM and Disk intensive.
Feb 17 20:17:57 <Mackan90096>	TJ-, Where do I find the live image download?
Feb 17 20:18:59 <Mackan90096>	Is it the Kylin?
Feb 17 20:19:21 <vifino>	Mackan90096: Unless you live in China, no.
Feb 17 20:19:45 <Mackan90096>	okay
Feb 17 20:22:02 <Mackan90096>	ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso ?
Feb 17 20:22:14 <Mackan90096>	vifino ?
Feb 17 20:22:18 <k1l>	Mackan90096: why 32bit?
Feb 17 20:22:26 <Mackan90096>	Well
Feb 17 20:22:45 <Mackan90096>	I need the 64-bit, but it's an intel..
Feb 17 20:22:48 <vifino>	Mackan90096: What version of ubuntu did you install?
Feb 17 20:22:57 <Mackan90096>	14.04.
Feb 17 20:22:59 <k1l>	Mackan90096: the patent is from amd so its called amd64
Feb 17 20:23:03 <k1l>	Mackan90096: intel uses the same
Feb 17 20:23:17 <Mackan90096>	Ah. okay k1l
Feb 17 20:24:05 <k1l>	Mackan90096: the only reason there are still 32bit isos are that there is old and slow hardware (like first atoms) that are only 32bit. most distros want to scratch 32bit for mainstream desktop usage.
Feb 18 10:56:02 <Mackan90096>	Why doesn't ubuntu recognize my usb drive?
Feb 18 10:57:17 <cfhowlett>	!details | Mackan90096,

Feb 18 10:59:20 <Mackan90096>	Well, Yesterday, my hdd got corruped, my laptop won't start. I was told to get a recovery media. I did so on a usb following instructions on the ubuntu site. My laptop's bios won't recognize it though..
Feb 18 10:59:54 <cfhowlett>	Mackan90096, this is a USB stick?
Feb 18 11:00:57 <TJ->	Mackan90096: I helped you yesterday. That is sounding like a problem with the PC itself, or just bad luck. I'd begin suspecting things like the RAM modules.
Feb 18 11:01:33 <Mackan90096>	Yes cfhowlett I don't have a cd drive
Feb 18 11:01:53 <Mackan90096>	TJ-, You told me to get a recovery drive . I did
